Upcoming Events!
It's going to be a summer of lots of Democratic activity.  Please get involved as we need everyones help.
July 3rd is our Half Open House! target date for the new KCDP office opening...this is cutting it close...but we should be able to do it. We have the first side almost complete and would love for folks to come check it out. There will be wine, soft drinks and snacks for First Friday at 311 Morgan Street. We will also have Eddie Davis showing his historical print of Barack Obama.
July 4th is the Farragut Parade which is being coordinated by the 5th District so you can talk to Jerome Miller or Suzie Coffey for more details...let's show up big for this one...word on the street is that we are first in the parade and we have 3 convertibles, a tractor and float, young dems and all the trimmings! Let's all get out with District 5 and show Farragut the Democrats are in it to win it!
August 6th is the Truman Day Event. The committee has found a beautiful and exciting location that is available at an extremely reasonable cost and will also handle all of the work for us! The Knoxville Zoo has played host to many Knoxville events and does an excellent job. They will run the tram from the parking lot to the ampitheatre for those who wish and they will also run the Merry-Go-Round for us. We will be voting on program details for Truman Day at the Executive Committee Meeting on June 18th. Tickets are available by calling 540-4001 or online at actblue.com/pages/trumanday and will cost $35 each.
August 29th is the All About Women Event at the Convention Center many of you have heard about and we will be seeking 32 volunteers to work the event on this day. It is a great event and our name will be on thousands of flyers and t-shirts all over the city at no cost to us...just the cost of a few volunteer hours! This also happens to be the date of Jackson Day in Nashville.
Thank you all so much for all you do!

NASHVILLE — The Tennessee Democratic Party today announced plans to reschedule its annual Jackson Day fundraiser for late summer 2009 due to logistical and scheduling issues. The event had been set for May 30. A new date and location will be announced shortly.

Headlining the rescheduled event will be Governor Phil Bredesen, Democratic Leadership Council Chairman Harold Ford Jr., and a lineup of prominent Democrats committed to helping advance next year’s candidates and campaigns in Tennessee.

“Jackson Day is a cherished tradition and a celebration of what it means to be a Tennessee Democrat,” said TNDP Chairman Chip Forrester. “We’re taking more time to plan this year’s event, which will serve as the kickoff of our 2010 efforts to take back the legislature and hold the governor’s office.”
