HOW CAN YOU GET INVOLVED IN PARTY ACTIVITIES?

If you are interested in helping with any of these jobs, contact your Ward and Precinct chairs and District Reps for your area listed under the leadership section, or call the Party at 540-4001.

COMMITTEES & GROUPS

BUDGET & FINANCE
Develops and oversees an operating budget; identifies resources available to carry out the day-to-day operations of the party.

DEVELOPMENT
Creates a "donor constituency" which will support the party on a regular basis; builds a base of "legacy donors."

EVENTS
Organizes a series of events, both social and fundraising; and events of special interest.

COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT
Identifies individuals and groups engaged in community projects that further the ideals of the Democratic party; informs the party about those projects; facilitates any aid or assistance the party (or its members) may offer the identified individuals or groups.

MEMBERSHIP / OUTREACH
Devises and implements strategies to identify and involve new or former Democrats who may become active in party affairs. These activities will be so varied that there will be a number of subcommittees working on specific areas.

CANDIDATE DEVELOPMENT
Identifies and recruits potential candidates for elective office or appointments that may arise. Provides advice, resources, and instruction for potential candidates.

COMMUNICATIONS: NEWSLETTER
Publishes and distributes a bi-monthly newsletter about party activities and concerns.

P.R. / MEDIA WATCH
Devises and implements strategies to publicize the party and its activities; monitors local media for stories that reflect (both positively and negatively) on the party.

CAMPAIGN
Helps candidates and the party with both organizational and political advice; helps party coordinate campaigns to achieve a more effective Democratic Party "presence" in elections, advises Party on needs of candidates.

DATABASE / RESEARCH
Creates and maintains a database of both voter data and other relevant information for the use of the party and its candidates. Provides mailing lists and other information to the party and its candidates.

TRAINING
Organizes regular training sessions on topics and techniques that will help party members and candidates to be more effect in carrying out our mission.

LOCAL GOVERNMENT MONITORS
Group will attend all regular meetings of City Council, County Commission, advise Party of upcoming agenda items; report on matters of interest.

ISSUES RESEARCH and POLICY & PLATFORM
Will provide party officials, elected officials, candidates, and members with information on specific governmental and political topics. Develops a platform on which the party recruits candidates and campaigns for them.

WEBSITE COORDINATORS / YAHOO GROUP MONITORS
Build and maintains party website; creates links to related sites; maintains a Yahoo discussion on party affairs and local politics.

PAC FUNDRAISING:
Raises money for both candidate and party campaign activities from individuals and other sources such as PACS. Helps candidates identify PAC funding sources.

LABOR COORDINATORS
Work with any and all unions and groups representing labor; advise Party on labor issues.

COLLEGE DEMS COORDINATORS
Work with UT & Pellissippi College Democrats including development of campus chapters.

REGIONAL COORDINATORS
Work with Democratic Party organizations in surrounding counties to improve coordination and effectiveness.

HISTORIAN/ARCHIVIST
Works with ET Historical Society and local Democrats to create a collection of party documents, campaign memorabilia, and oral histories.

FACILITIES
Would investigate opportunities regarding a party or campaign headquarters.
